Introduction

North Michigan Avenue, also known as the "Magnificent Mile" or the "Magnificent Mile District", is located in the area of the Chicago River north to Oak Street. It is one of the busiest commercial streets in the downtown area, filled with famous brand shops, high-end hotels, and stunning architecture. As you stroll through, you can not only enjoy food, shopping, and entertainment, but also see iconic buildings representative of Chicago. Two iconic buildings stand on either side of Michigan Avenue, next to the riverbank. The Tribune Tower is located on the east side and has a strong Gothic style, with walls inlaid with pieces of different buildings from around the world, including stones from the White House, the Taj Mahal, and the Pyramids. There is even a display in one of the windows on the ground floor featuring a rock collected from the moon by Apollo 15. However, the oldest building on this road is not them, but the Chicago Water Tower built in 1896, which is the second oldest water tower in the United States and the only public building that survived the Great Chicago Fire, becoming a symbol of Chicago's reconstruction after the disaster.

Take the Red Line subway to Grand Station and walk three blocks east; or take CTA Bus 2, 3, 10, 26, 125, 143, 144, 145, 146, 147, 148, 151, 157 to any stop between Oak Street and Wacker Drive.
