Introduction

Located on the southeast side of Banff, just below the Banff Springs Hotel, is Bow Falls, a popular tourist destination. This waterfall, with a height of about 10 meters, may not be very large, but it has a powerful and thunderous flow. It is formed by the Bow River fault and intersects with its tributary, the Spray River. Visitors can walk along the hiking trails on both sides of the waterfall to enjoy the scenery and rest on benches provided for that purpose. Even from a distance, the immense sound of the falls can be heard. It is also one of the filming locations for the famous movie "River of No Return" that helped make Marilyn Monroe a star.
