Introduction

On the Jesus Square in Rome, Italy stands a building named Chiesa del Gesù, which is the mother church of Jesuits. The architecture of Chiesa del Gesù is similar to many other Jesuit churches worldwide, especially to those in the Americas, and is one of the most representative churches of the Baroque period and Catholic Counter-Reformation movement. The construction of this church was proposed by the founder of the Jesuit order, Saint Ignatius of Loyola, in 1551. Before the dissolution of the Jesuits in 1773, Chiesa del Gesù served as the residence of Jesuit leadership. Additionally, the decoration of the nave ceiling of the church is also noteworthy, which is the fresco "The Triumph of the Name of Jesus" by Baciccia.
