Introduction

Buda Castle Palace, built in the 13th century to defend against the Tartar invasion, still stands on Castle Hill in Budapest today. The palace's new Baroque architecture is breathtaking, and the main building has now been transformed into the Budapest Historical Museum, the National Gallery, and the Széchenyi National Library. If you're not interested in the historical museum, taking a stroll around the palace is also a unique experience, as the external architecture and sculptures are definitely worth a look.
