Introduction

Maria Luisa Park is a major green space located in Seville. Originally the gardens of the San Telmo Palace, it was donated to the city by the Duchess of Montpensier in 1893 as a public park. In 1911, architect Jean-Claude Nicolas Forestier redesigned the layout of the park, and in 1914, architect Anibal Gonzalez began construction of the Ibero-American Exposition, some of which took place within the park. The exposition offices were established in a new building on the Plaza de España. The park remains one of the most popular tourist attractions for visitors and locals.
