Introduction

Guimarães is located in the Braga district in northern Portugal, and its history can be traced back to the 4th century. It was the capital of Portugal in the 12th century, and it was where Afonso Henriques established the Kingdom of Portugal in 1143, earning it the nickname "Cradle of Portugal".
