Introduction

The Christ Convent of Tomar, located in the Santarém region of Portugal, is a 12th century Catholic building that was initially the headquarters of the Templar Order, symbolizing the conquest process. In the 14th century, the Catholic Church took over this branch in Portugal, supporting the Portuguese geographical discoveries of the 15th century. The Christ Convent of Tomar combines Romanesque, Gothic, Manueline and Renaissance architectural styles, and is one of the most historically and culturally valuable buildings in Portugal. In 1983, it was listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
