Introduction

The Braga Cathedral, built in the 12th century, is one of the oldest buildings in Portugal and a famous tourist attraction in Braga. It was ordered to be built by Henry and Teresa, whose tombs are located in the church's ambulatory. Located on Braga Hill, it attracts a large number of pilgrims and tourists every year. The Braga Cathedral is not only a symbol of the city’s religion, but also the headquarters of the bishopric. Construction began in 1070 and was designed by João de St. Lázaro in Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque architectural styles. The walls are adorned with 12 tiles paintings, displaying exquisite carving and painting techniques. As a historical and cultural heritage of the people of Braga, the Braga Cathedral is definitely worth a visit.
