Introduction

In the untouched Loire Valley region, you can escape the mundane daily life, interact with wild boars and deer in their natural habitat, and visit the most magnificent castle in all of France - Chambord. Just under two hours from southern Paris, you can arrive at the key to unlock the doors of the Loire Valley. Chambord is a perfect combination of French medieval heritage and Italian Renaissance innovation, and it is a must-visit stop on your Loire Valley trip. Chambord is considered the king of Loire Valley castles, known for its grandeur, harmonious proportions, and exquisite elegance. Its most famous feature is the double spiral staircase in the main hall, rumored to be designed by Leonardo da Vinci, with the purpose of avoiding awkward encounters between King François's queen and his mistresses. As a hunting palace, Chambord boasts numerous impressive records: 156 meters long, 56 meters high, 77 staircases, 282 chimneys, and 426 rooms. The soft and fragile limestone of the Loire Valley region is the main building material used in Chambord, which enhances its natural and stunning beauty. Lastly, it is worth mentioning the 1000-hectare forest surrounding Chambord, which is peaceful and beautiful, waiting for you to explore.
