Introduction

Saint-Michel Square is located at a crossroad in the Latin Quarter of the 6th arrondissement of Paris. It is famous for the Saint-Michel Fountain. The fountain, designed by Gabriel Davioud in 1855, depicts the archangel Michael holding a sword and standing on a dragon, from which water sprays out. It was dedicated to the archangel Michael, not Napoleon I.
