Introduction

Nuremberg Castle, also known as the most representative medieval architecture in Nuremberg, is located on top of a hill in the old town of Nuremberg. The castle complex dates back to the 11th century and took 500 years to reach its current scale. Many Holy Roman Emperors have stayed and resided here. Today, the castle is open for visits and has the Imperial Castle Museum, showcasing the history of the castle. The double-decker chapel, the climbable Sinwell Tower, and the deep well inside the castle are all must-see attractions. Additionally, there are defensive fortifications, castle gardens, and the former warehouses now turned into the Nuremberg International Youth Hostel surrounding the castle.
