Introduction

The central market square in Krakow, Poland is one of Europe's most magnificent medieval squares. It was built in 1257 and covers an area of 40,000 square meters. The square is rectangular in shape and features a Renaissance-style Cloth Hall in the center, as well as a 80-meter tall Gothic St. Mary's Basilica, surrounded by many historic buildings and palaces, including the grand St. Adalbert's Church. In 1978, the UNESCO designated Krakow's central market square as a World Heritage Site, and in December 2005, it was chosen as one of the world's best squares. Nowadays, it has become a hotspot for public events and festivals, hosting various traditional festivals and concerts, including Poland's New Year's Eve celebration, making it an important cultural landmark of the city.
