Introduction

In 1975, Master Dongchu established the Fagushan Agricultural Zen Monastery. After Master Dongchu passed away, Master Shengyan inherited the Dharma. On December 29, 2012, Master Shengyan expanded the Fagushan Agricultural Zen Monastery and built the Shuiyue Dharma Hall, designed by the renowned Taiwanese architect, Yao Renxi and his team. The entire temple does not have any incense burning, but instead uses lights as a substitute. The scriptures, including the Diamond Sutra and the Heart Sutra, are engraved inside the hall. The temple blends with the mountain landscape, creating a solemn and beautiful scene, becoming an important place for religious tourism and education in Taiwan. All the buildings in the Shuiyue Dharma Hall are constructed using eco-friendly techniques.
