Introduction

The Battlefield Plain is a wetland in the Aorihikari Highland, formed by volcanic eruptions. The volcanic activity blocked rivers and formed lakes, which were later flooded again to create the current wetland. The fine birch trees here are over 50 years old. The Battlefield Plain is located in a high-altitude wetland at an elevation of about 1400 meters, and is one of the representative highland wetlands in Japan. It is home to a variety of flora and fauna, presenting a mysterious and beautiful sight with the changing seasons and climate. The alpine plants in summer are particularly beautiful, and in autumn, the grassland shows a vibrant red and golden color, which is very special. The Battlefield Plain is composed of reed forests, jungles, and birch forests, and is a vast plain. The Aorihikari Nature Trail passes through the Battlefield Plain, along the Yutegawa River, all the way to the Ryuto Waterfall. Along the wooden boardwalk for visitors' hiking, you can hear the chirping of birds and experience the mountains, rivers, and natural beauty up close, while enjoying the various flora and fauna and the scenic beauty of Mount Nantai in the Battlefield Plain. From Lake Yunoko, it takes about 8 kilometers to walk to the Akunuma in the Battlefield Plain.
