Introduction

The Margalla Hills are located to the northwest of Islamabad and are part of the foothills of the Karakoram mountain range. The Islamabad Wildlife Park at the foot of the mountains (junction of F6 and F7 roads) is a great starting point. You can drive along the road and enjoy a panoramic view of Islamabad. The Margalla Hills National Park on the slopes is the best place to admire the beautiful scenery. The most famous attraction is the Monal open-air restaurant at the mountain top, a perfect spot for enjoying food and romance. There are 7 routes to reach the mountain top, one of which is a road accessible by car. The other six routes require walking. The road conditions are good but narrow and steep, so be sure to choose a well-maintained vehicle if you're driving up the mountain. Otherwise, you may experience a breakdown or be forced to walk. The longest and most successful routes are Trail 3 and Trail 5. There is a map sign at the entrance of Trail 3, which shows the entire trail map of the Margalla Hills. Be sure to take a photo for reference. Additionally, about 10 meters west of the main entrance of Trail 3, there is a small path leading to the mountain top. This path has low traffic but offers beautiful scenery (you can enjoy a panoramic view of Islamabad along the way), and it intersects with the main routes so you don't have to worry about getting lost. The entrance of Trail 5 is one kilometer east of Trail 3, with a small stream along the way. If the water level is sufficient in summer, you can try hiking upstream.
