Introduction

In the Gandeli Grassland of Ejin Horo Banner, Ordos City, Inner Mongolia, 70 kilometers away from Dongsheng District, there is a royal tomb called the Mausoleum of Genghis Khan. Due to the prevalence of "secret burial" among the Mongolian people, the true location of this tomb has always been a mystery. The Mausoleum of Genghis Khan has been relocated several times and was finally moved back to its original location in Ejin Horo Banner in 1954 by Ta'er Temple in Huangzhong County. The lush green grass and magnificent scenery here have made it one of the main tourist attractions in Inner Mongolia. The Genghis Khan Festival is also one of the most solemn and grand ceremonies of the Mongolian ethnic group, known as the "Sacrifice to the Mausoleum". It includes daily sacrifices, monthly sacrifices, and seasonal sacrifices, held on fixed dates. Over sixty events are held throughout the year to commemorate Genghis Khan, with sumptuous offerings including whole sheep, holy wine, and various dairy products. With the grand ceremonies, the most important and grand moment of the whole festival is the spring sacrifice on March 21st in the lunar calendar. Representatives from all banners will go to the Mausoleum of Genghis Khan in Ejin Horo to offer sacrifices.
