Introduction

The core area of Kashgar Old Town is one of the world's largest groups of adobe buildings, and the residential buildings are of extremely high historical value. These adobe buildings combine the characteristics of Han and Tang dynasties, ancient Roman style, and modern Uyghur life, which are unique. The streets and lanes in the old town are intertwined and have a flexible and varied layout, with winding paths and pleasant ambiance. Most of the residential buildings are made of wood and bricks, some of which are over a hundred years old. It is the only maze-like urban block in China with Islamic culture as its feature. Although the residents in the old town still live in traditional adobe houses and follow their traditional customs, the local government is carrying out a renovation project and a large number of ancient residential buildings have been demolished. This is one of the filming locations for the popular movie "The Kite Runner".
