The southern part of Lombok faces Bali across the sea, where there is also a beach called Kuta. In the local language, Kuta refers to "surfing." There are rumors that Kuta Beach in Lombok is like Bali's Kuta 10 years ago, with relatively fewer tourists (mostly foreign tourists, few domestic ones).
