Introduction

The Gediminas Castle consists of the New and Old Arsenal, a defensive fortress, and a tower, making it a complex architectural ensemble and the dream work of Gediminas, the Grand Duke of Lithuania. Only the tower remains on the hill where the castle stood, which has now become a small Upper Castle Museum showcasing the evolution of castle architecture in the 14th to 17th centuries, including various sizes of sand models. There are no precious artifacts in the castle, and corresponding pictures are kept in the Grand Duke Museum at the foot of the hill. Therefore, if visiting only for artifacts, it is not necessary to purchase a ticket to enter the castle. However, the tower is located above the Cathedral Square, offering a close-up view of the panoramic view of the old city center, which is the main reason many people visit.
