Introduction

The St. Nicholas Cathedral, also known as the Monaco Cathedral, is a Roman Catholic church in the Monaco diocese. Many members of the Grimaldi family, including the free-spirited Princess Grace Kelly and the recently deceased Prince Rainier III, are buried here. The cathedral was built in 1875 on the site of Monaco's first parish church, which was originally built in 1252. During important national holidays, the cathedral hosts papal services and religious concerts where audiences can enjoy beautiful melodies played on the cathedral's four-keyboard organ. Additionally, the Monaco Cathedral is a romantic wedding venue where couples can make their lifelong commitment under the witness of a priest.
