The Outskirt of Paradise for Adventurers: Unveiling Chongqing Wulong

For thousands of years, Wulong has been regarded as a paradise on earth, but it was not well-known due to its geographical environment. It officially entered people's field of vision with the release of "Curse of the Golden Flower," a film directed by Zhang Yimou, and later gained worldwide attention as one of the filming locations for "Transformers: Age of Extinction." This sparked a wave of tourism in Wulong. So how do you make the most of your visit to Wulong? Let me explain it to you one by one!

Three natural bridges

Longtiansheng Bridge, also known as Tiantan San Gou, is a rare geological landscape and eco-tourism area in China, characterized by typical karst landforms. The scenic area is famous for its three magnificent stone arch bridges: Tianlong Bridge, Qinglong Bridge, and Heilong Bridge, which are the largest natural bridge group in Asia. In addition, it is also a famous filming location for the movie "Curse of the Golden Flower" and one of the shooting locations for "Transformers: Age of Extinction". It is considered as one of the must-visit attractions in Wulong.

Longshuixia Rift Scenic Area

Longshuixia Rift Scenic Area is associated with the Tiancheng Sanqiao Scenic Area. After visiting the Tiancheng Sanqiao Scenic Area, take a park bus to the Rift Scenic Area. However, you must be careful, as there are two routes in the Rift Scenic Area – one to the rift and one back to the visitor center. Going in the wrong direction will delay your trip. The Rift Scenic Area is 5 kilometers long without any obstacles. It is a deep valley, 200-500 meters deep, composed of typical karst landforms. Mountains, ridges, canyons, and flowing water create a perfect landscape painting. The entire tourist route is downhill, not as tiring as going uphill, but it is hard on the knees. The ground is slippery, so you must wear non-slip shoes. There are many people selling local snacks and crafts at the entrance of the scenic spot. I recommend trying the cooked sausages, they are reasonably priced and taste good. There is also a hot air balloon nearby, but it is the kind that is tied with ropes and goes up a little before coming down. It won't fly too far, but the cost is higher.

Chongqing Wulong Furong Cave

"Furong Cave" is a large karst cave with a tour route of 1,846 meters. On the stalactites, you can see colorful lights, which is very magnificent and dreamlike. It is a unique place for photography. The further you go, the more you will discover the incredible craftsmanship of nature. Nature's decorations are truly magical. If you haven't seen a cave before, this place is definitely worth a visit.

Fairy Mountain National Forest Park

The main attractions can be visited by car. The ticket price for the small train is 25 yuan/person. The first stop is the Great Prairie, where you can go sledding in summer and skiing in winter. The second stop is the racecourse, mainly for horseback riding. Many people choose not to get off the train and go straight back to the terminal. If you have good physical strength and are not in a hurry, you can choose to explore on foot. It takes only 30 minutes to walk to the Great Prairie, crossing the entire forest. Since most people choose to take the small train, there are very few people walking, and it feels peaceful and wonderful.

Tiankeng Village Scenic Area

Address: Mingxing Village, Mingxing Section, Xiannv Mountain Town, Wulong County, Chongqing. Kengzhai was originally a secluded paradise, surrounded by clouds and mist all year round, like a fairyland in the clouds. The Miao and Tujia indigenous people live here, leading a traditional life of "work at sunrise, rest at sunset, drink from wells, eat from farming, men plow and women weave". However, due to the filming location of the reality show "Where are we going, Dad?", Kengzhai has gained great fame and many fans will visit specially. However, this scenic area was developed in recent years, so there is no direct transportation and you need to charter a car yourself.
