Three national parks with diverse styles are highly recommended (in no particular order, hehe), which are the highlights of our trip this time, especially the last two places, not many domestic backpackers visit: 1.Kruger National Park―a paradise for animals with beautiful scenery. We stayed here for four or five days and only explored less than half of the area; 2.Tsitsikamma National Park―to see the sea (especially the waves) and various hiking trails; 3.Wildness National Park―a tranquil place that needs to be experienced quietly. Several bird watching spots are thoughtful, allowing you to birdwatch up close. Travel preparation: This trip to South Africa was all prepared by my husband, who mainly studied some foreign travel notes and forums about self-guided tours in South Africa. Therefore, the itinerary differs from the itineraries of some domestic "backpacker" predecessors in the country. 1. Buying plane tickets: There are currently no direct flights from Shanghai to South Africa, usually requiring a transfer in places like Hong Kong or Dubai. We started researching flights in September and eventually booked three tickets for round-trip flights from Dubai to South Africa through Emirates in early October, totaling 14,900 yuan, less than 5,000 yuan per person. This is quite cheap. A good tip here is that you don't have to enter and leave South Africa from the same city. We choose to enter Johannesburg and leave from Cape Town, saving time. 2. Booking accommodations: Accommodations in national parks need to be booked through SANPARKS. Some accommodations at Kruger National Park are very popular and usually need to be booked well in advance. Accommodations in Johannesburg and Cape Town are redeemed through Holiday Inn hotel points. Our accommodation in Port Elizabeth was booked through www.agoda.com. 3. Wildcard: A SANPARKS wildcard is needed to visit various national parks in South Africa to save money. We purchased the international family wildcard for R2495. 4. Renting a car: We booked a car from Budget through the Zuzuche platform, rented a Honda Jazz, and traveled around Kruger National Park for six days. Budget's service was good. 5. Medication and mosquito prevention: We bought medication for malaria prevention and brought tropical jungle mosquito repellent and a portable electric mosquito killer from Taobao. 6. Websites for reference: www.places.co.za (download Kruger map); www.sanparks.org (research national park strategies, book accommodations, and ask questions); www.agoda.com (book accommodations). The itinerary: 2.6 Shanghai to Johannesburg (transferred in Dubai), stayed at Holiday Inn; 2.7 Johannesburg to Kruger National Park (visited God Window on the way), stayed at Satara; 2.8 Visited Kruger National Park, stayed at Satara; 2.9 Visited Kruger National Park, stayed at Lower Sabie; 2.10 Visited Kruger National Park, stayed at Lower Sabie; 2.11 Visited Kruger National Park, stayed at Lower Sabie; 2.12 Visited Kruger National Park in the morning, went to Johannesburg airport at noon, flew to Port Elizabeth, stayed at Summerstand Inn Hotel; 2.13 Headed towards Cape Town along the Garden Route, arrived at Tsitsikamma National Park at noon; 2.14 Visited Tsitsikamma National Park; 2.15 Continued on the Garden Route towards Cape Town, passing through Plettenberg Bay, Knysna, Margarette View Point, Buffallo Bay, arrived at Wildness National Park in the afternoon; 2.16 Visited Wildness National Park in the morning, then went to Cape Town via N2, visited several attractions along the way, and stayed at Holiday Inn in the evening; 2.17 Visited False Bay, Seal Island, Cape Peninsula National Park, Penguin Bay, and Signal Hill, stayed at Holiday Inn; 2.18 Table Mountain, Cape Town to Shanghai (still transferring in Dubai); 2.19 Returned home after a long absence.
