Introduction
Zahari Castle in Abu Dhabi is a historically significant ancient building and the birthplace of the late founding father of the country, Sheikh Zayed. The castle was built in 1891 and was used as the headquarters for the non-combat force of Oman, which was dedicated to protecting the surrounding mountains and inner tribes' peace. With careful maintenance, the castle now houses materials and other works from Sir Wilfred Thesiger's crossing of the "Empty Quarter" desert in 1940.
