Introduction

Huai Sheng Temple is located north of the south, covering an area of 2966 square meters. It has three gates, a moon-watching tower, a worship hall, a scripture pavilion, as well as corridors and a stele pavilion. The Guang Ta is located at the southwest corner of the temple. It was first built in the Tang Dynasty, with a height of 36.3 meters. It is made of green bricks and has a cylindrical shape, with the upper part tapering toward the top. Its surface is covered with gray sand and has rectangular skylights. Inside, there are two spiral staircases, a golden rooster symbol, and it can rotate with the wind to indicate wind direction. The top of the tower is a pointed top, built with brick teeth, and was repaired in 1934. Huai Sheng Temple was built in the early Tang Dynasty and is one of the earliest surviving Islamic architectural structures in China. Its name "Huai Sheng" is in commemoration of the founder of Islam, Muhammad. Additionally, because the temple has a tower of light, it is also known as the Light Tower Temple. This tower was destroyed by fire in the third year of the Yuan Dynasty (1343), but was rebuilt in the tenth year of the Yuan Dynasty and has been renovated multiple times during the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
