Introducción

The Aiguille du Midi, known as the Needle of the South in English, is a mountain peak in the French Alps, located 8 kilometers from the highest peak of the Alps, Mont Blanc. It stands at an altitude of 3842 meters and is composed of needle-shaped rocks formed by glaciers. The Aiguille du Midi is one of the most distinctive landmarks in the Chamonix region. Its name translates to "Needle of Noon" in reference to the fact that at midday, the sun shines directly on the peak of the mountain. The cable car was built and opened in 1955, making it the highest cable car in the world at the time. This record lasted for almost 20 years, and it still remains the cable car with the highest altitude in the world. The cable car takes only 20 minutes to reach the peak at an altitude of 3842 meters from the starting point at 1035 meters above sea level. At the top of the peak, there are panoramic viewing platforms (with an extremely thrilling suspended design), a café, and a gift shop. From the highest point on the summit, visitors can enjoy breathtaking 360-degree views of the Alps in France, Switzerland, and Italy.
