Introduction

The Austrian Parliament Building is located next to the Ringstrasse in the inner city of Vienna (District 1). It was completed in 1883 and serves as the seat of the two houses of the Austrian Parliament. The building is designed in the Greek Revival architectural style, with carvings on the pediment depicting Emperor Franz I issuing the constitution to 17 different nationalities. One of the most famous features of the Parliament Building is the statue of Athena, with sculptures at her feet representing the four major rivers of the Austro-Hungarian Empire: the Danube, Rhine, Elbe, and Moldau.
