Introduction

Baisha Ancient Town used to be one of the most important political, economic and cultural centers in Lijiang, as well as one of the earliest places of settlement for the Naxi people in Lijiang. It perfectly preserves the original form of Naxi culture. This ancient town has not been overly developed and is not as crowded as Dayan and Shuhe. It is more peaceful and you can even see the spectacular Jade Dragon Snow Mountain when looking up at the sky. The most famous attraction in Baisha Ancient Town is the murals, which have lasted for more than 300 years from the Ming Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty. It is an excellent place to understand the Dongba culture. At the small shops on the street, you can chat with local old ladies in languages you both don't understand, or wander around slowly. Taking a nap or having a drink here is the most enjoyable thing to do.
