Kompong Phluk Village
Kompong Phluk Village is relatively far from Siem Reap city and is much larger than the floating villages in Vietnam. It is located on the way to the Roluos Group of temples, so it is generally arranged in the outer circuit. This is a unique water community on the edge of Tonle Sap Lake. Unlike the floating villages in Vietnam, this is a floating village that you can actually walk into and visit. In the Vietnamese floating villages, you just take a boat in and stay on various floating platforms, but here you can disembark and walk along the village's dirt roads, allowing you to see the local lifestyle up close. There are schools, shops, and many indigenous Cambodians living here.

The Vietnamese Floating Village is the closest floating village to Siem Reap city. Most of the people living here are Vietnamese refugees, hence it is called the 'Vietnamese Floating Village'. The majority of tour groups visit this floating village, making it the most commercialized among the floating villages. Most of the negative reviews about Tonle Sap Lake on the internet are also about this floating village.
Kampong Khleang Floating Village
Kampong Khleang Floating Village is the farthest floating village from Siem Reap, and because of the long distance, relatively fewer people visit. It is the largest community on Tonle Sap Lake, with many villages along the way and also pagodas to see. There are more than 1,800 households and over 6,000 local residents here.
Mechrey Floating Village
Mechrey Floating Village was discovered not long ago. It has fewer people compared to other floating villages and is the closest floating village to Siem Reap, apart from Chong Kneas Floating Village. The waterway from Siem Reap to Battambang passes through this floating village. This waterway also passes through the Prek Toal Bird Sanctuary, making it a great destination for guests who enjoy photography and bird watching.
