Guide to Lesser-known Tourist Attractions in Yili, come and bookmark!

In recent years, there have been more and more people traveling to Xinjiang, traveling to Yili, but besides those well-known tourist attractions, in fact, there are many niche attractions here worth visiting.

Anjihai Grand Canyon

Overlooking the entire canyon, it is colorful and resembles an abstract oil painting. Currently, only a few geologists, photographers, and outdoor enthusiasts are paying attention to it. Shooting here is quite dangerous, and looking down from the top of the mountain to the bottom of the valley is quite thrilling.
Walking through the vast forest sea, surrounded by the lush green Tianshan Valley, standing by the beautiful and fertile Ili River, you can experience the distant echoes of the Silk Road camel bells. Such magnificent natural scenery and unique, magical landscapes can only be felt in the Tukai Desert of Huocheng County. This place is well-developed with various recreational facilities: cliff swings, sand sliding, mazes, racing, and four-wheel drive vehicles. However, there are not many tourists, most of whom are local visitors from Xinjiang.

Kuerdening Scenic Area

Located in the southeastern mountainous area of Gongliu County, 88 kilometers from the county seat. What makes it unique is that while the grassland scenic areas in Ili are all east-west river valleys, this is the only north-south mountain valley, about 14 kilometers long and about 1 kilometer wide at its widest point, with an average altitude of 1500 meters at the valley bottom. The name 'Kuerdening' means 'horizontal ditch' in Kazakh. The unique north-south orientation makes Kuerdening warm in winter and cool in summer, with a pleasant climate all year round. Therefore, Kuerdening is not only a famous scenic spot in Ili but also a popular summer resort. Its beautiful and picturesque Jiangnan mountain village and spectacular grassland scenery attract more and more tourists from home and abroad.

Tekes County

When you arrive here, your first thought might be: 'This is a good commercial street.' Actually, it is not. Centered around six ethnic groups: Kazakh, Han, Hui, Uyghur, Mongolian, and Kyrgyz, the original residences and courtyards are preserved to the greatest extent. While maintaining the residential function and neighborhood structure, it gradually transitions to tourism services, forming a multi-ethnic cultural street that integrates living, dining, and ethnic specialty products.

Kalajun Grassland

When visiting Ili, most people primarily want to enjoy the grassland scenery. Nalati Grassland, being one of the most famous grasslands in Xinjiang, attracts thousands of tourists every year. After queuing at the ticket office and taking the shuttle bus, you enter the scenic area with great anticipation, but you might feel a bit disappointed due to the large number of tourists and the grassland not being as good as it was in previous years. Kalajun, as a scenic area that has gradually developed in recent years, boasts high-quality grasslands. The vast area not only offers the beautiful undulating grassland scenery but also the spectacular canyon views.
