Rakusuien is a "green scenic spot" surrounded by characteristic walls in Hakata. Its history can be traced back to the 39th year of the Meiji era (1906), when it was a villa for Hakata merchants, and later rebuilt into a circular water-style Japanese garden. In 1995 (Heisei 7), the garden was renovated and opened to the public by Fukuoka City, and to commemorate its history, it was named Rakusuien.
Rakusuien holds different events almost every month, such as tea ceremony classes, yukata wearing classes, gratitude festivals, matcha tasting activities, and more. In addition, there are rooms available for a fee, such as tea rooms, iris rooms, and camellia rooms. Adresse 2-10-7 Sumiyoshi, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka-shi, Fukuoka 812-0018, Japan
