Ang Thong National Marine Park is a national wildlife sanctuary and the second approved national marine park in Thailand. Located 30 kilometers west of Koh Samui, it covers an area of approximately 9.8 square kilometers. The Ang Thong archipelago consists of 42 islands, mostly limestone islands, including Koh Wua Talap, Koh Pha Luai, Koh Mae Koh, Koh Sam Sao, Koh Phai Luek, Koh Ka, Koh Hin Dap, and Koh Wua Kantang. These islands were originally off-limits to the public as they were a restricted area of the Thai Navy but are now open for residents. Koh Wua Talap serves as the headquarters and is the largest island in the archipelago, featuring viewpoints and the Lotus Cave. Koh Sam Sao is known for its beautiful coral, jungle, and beaches. Thale Nai in Koh Mae Koh and Koh Wua Kantang are the two most stunning coral sites in the marine park. The beaches of Koh Hin Dap have soft and comfortable sand. The islands are relatively close to each other, and transportation options include speedboats and long-tail boats. There are various day tour activities available in Ang Thong National Marine Park, including snorkeling, island hopping, jungle exploration, observing the wildlife, kayaking, and cave exploring.
