Introduction

The construction of Santiago Cathedral began in 1748 and features Baroque style architecture with lavish interiors. The cathedral has three arched galleries, each spanning over 90 meters, and is known as one of the famous pilgrimage churches. In addition, the remains of all the former archbishops of Chile are buried in the cathedral's underground crypt, witnessing the development of the Catholic history of Chile.
