Introduction

São Paulo Cathedral is the fourth largest Gothic cathedral in the world and one of the iconic gateways to tourism in São Paulo. Built in 1913, it took 40 years to complete. As a tribute to the 400th anniversary of the city of São Paulo, it is one of the most luxurious buildings in the city. The cathedral features Gothic spires, semi-circular arches, and a dome with a Renaissance style. The designer modeled it after the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence. The cathedral is located in the center of São Paulo, and the distance from any city in the world to São Paulo is calculated from the cathedral as the starting point. The cathedral's basement is the burial ground of various bishops and houses Latin America's largest pipe organ, consisting of five keyboards and 12,000 pipes.
