Introduction

Cape Otway Lighthouse is one of the oldest lighthouses in Australia that has been well-preserved, embodying the hope and faith of early immigrants. Climbing up the lighthouse, visitors can overlook the wilderness of the Southern Ocean, experiencing the desolate coastline and the tragedy of multiple shipwrecks. The museum also features early telegraph towers and radar stations, along with stunning views of the Bass Strait. From June to October, visitors have the opportunity to see whales leaping in the nearby waters. On the way to the lighthouse, visitors may also encounter koalas and enjoy the wonderful waterfalls and sunsets. The traditional keeper's cottage inside the lighthouse boasts four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a fireplace, kitchen, and laundry facilities, providing a comfortable experience; while the modernized manager's cottage is also available for visitors to stay in.
