Introduction

In 1930, a bridge was built in the center of Melbourne, connecting Spencer Street on the north bank and Clarence Street on the south bank. The bridge and the adjacent Spencer Street pedestrian bridge with a steel and glass canopy became part of the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, which was built in 1998.
