Introduction
The Sydney MCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) is located opposite the Sydney Opera House and is Australia's Tate Modern. Built in the 1950s, the sandstone building has classical art decoration style. Under the leadership of museum director Elizabeth Ann Macgregor, the museum's collection has been expanded and has attracted more and more visitors. Approximately 10 years ago, architect Sam Marshall was commissioned to redesign the interior and build new buildings on the nearby parking lot, including three galleries, a café, a sculpture platform, an education center, and a lecture hall. Although the two buildings are completely different in style, Sam Marshall cleverly blends them together. The museum is made up of a series of linked cubes and rectangles, modern and elegant in appearance. The opening exhibition "Marking Time" invited 11 artists, including Christian Marclay and Tatsuo Miyajima, to showcase artworks related to the passage of time. Shaun Gladwell's video piece "Storm Sequence" features an elegant skateboarding performance on Bondi Beach, creating a 10-minute dance at the edge of the world. The Sydney MCA is not a landmark building and serves art and audiences rather than making itself the focal point. Address 140 George St, Sydney, New South Wales 2000, Australia
