Introduction
This building is in the style of the Second French Empire and now serves as a trendy restaurant and office space. It has witnessed the changes of history. In 1635, the first public school, Boston Latin School, was established here. The mosaic bricks on the sidewalk mark the places where Benjamin Franklin, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and Charles Bullfinch attended school. In the courtyard, there are statues of Benjamin Franklin and the second mayor of Boston, Josiah Quincy, as well as a donkey statue representing the Democratic Party.
