Introduction

The town of Graydonhurst is located in northern Ontario, only 165 kilometers away from Toronto. In 1973, the Canadian federal government purchased the birthplace of Sir Frederick Banting, restored the house, and turned it into the Banting House National Historic Site, which is considered a national historic site in Canada. The museum restored the original appearance of the house where Banting was born. At the same time, the Banting Memorial located at 297 John Street on the north side of the Banting House was opened to the public on August 30, 1976. In the memorial, there are exhibits of Banting's life and battle experiences, as well as objects and photographs.
