Introduction

The University of Montreal, located at the foot of Mount Royal in the city of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, was founded in 1878 and is a public university with French as the teaching language. The school consists of 13 faculties and two famous affiliated schools, the Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal and HEC Montreal, the Faculty of Business. Although French is the main teaching language of the school, a small number of courses are taught in English, and graduate programs can be completed in English. The University of Montreal is a member of the U15 University Alliance in Canada and is one of the strongest research universities in Canada. In 2011, the school ranked third in research funding in Canada.
