Introduction

This chapel was originally built in the 17th century as a pilgrimage site. It was rebuilt in the 18th century and underwent mural decoration in the 19th century. However, these murals were soon covered up and hidden. It wasn't until the 20th century that the murals were rediscovered. The chapel is also known as the "mother of the port".
