St. Mary’s Church, Breathtaking Panoramas atop Cliffside Ruins
Whitby, North Yorkshire YO22 4DW, UK

Introduction
To reach the Whitby Abbey and St. Mary Church, you need to cross 199 steps and climb along the cliff edge. However, this road is not steep, and there is an amazing panoramic view at the top of the hill. Standing here, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the West Bank of Whitby.
At the top of the stairs, the Caedmon Cross (located on the right) appears to commemorate Caedmon, the earliest poet in England. He once lived in the ruins of the Whitby Abbey, behind which is the St. Mary Church built in the 12th century. The church is surrounded by a cemetery facing the sea, and there are many benches in the graveyard for people to sit and meditate. This experience is unique and worth a try.
