Introduction

Fountains Abbey, located in Yorkshire, is one of the highly-acclaimed tourist highlights in the area. It is the third best choice after York Minster and hiking through the Yorkshire Dales. The water gardens of Studley Royal Park, a treasure of the 18th century, are particularly charming against the backdrop of the 12th-century Fountains Abbey. These two attractions combine to present a serene and elegant landscape that is highly appealing and has earned them the UNESCO World Heritage Site designation, and has been listed as one of the most popular attractions in the National Trust's fee-charging sites.
