Introduction

Castle Howard is a historic mansion estate located in the outskirts of York. With a history of over 300 years, it was commissioned by the wealthy aristocrat and politician, Charles Howard, 3rd Earl of Carlisle, who carefully selected architects John Vanbrugh and Nicholas Hawksmoor to build it in 1699. Through their collaborative efforts, the mansion became England's most beautiful Baroque-style building of the 18th century. Although referred to as a castle, Castle Howard is actually a country house located in the rural area of North Yorkshire, England. Additionally, it is also a famous location for filming in movies and TV shows such as "Brideshead Revisited."
