Introduction

Albert Square is located in the center of Manchester, built between 1868-1877 and named after Prince Albert in tribute to him. He was the husband of Queen Victoria (reigned from 1837-1901). There is a monument on the square in commemoration. Albert Square hosts various festivals and events every year and serves as a lively public square in the city center.
