Introduction

The National Football Museum is located in Manchester and will open on July 6th, 2012. Manchester is a major hub for football culture, so the museum's establishment will add to the existing tourism attractions. The museum is supported by the Manchester City Council and the European Fund, and is intended to become a tourist hotspot for both domestic and international visitors. The building has three floors, with the atrium used as a hall of fame for football celebrities, as well as exhibiting the European Cup and over 140,000 football memorabilia, art pieces, and photographs. The museum cleverly combines world-class football memorabilia with surprising interactive activities to showcase the history and culture of the sport. The museum has the potential to become one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the UK and further consolidate Manchester's status as a tourism city.
