Introduction

Christ's College was founded in 1437, initially based in the King's College Chapel. In 1446, the college received its first royal charter and in 1448, it moved to its current location and received a second royal charter. In 1505, the college was formally renamed Christ's College by Lady Margaret Beaufort, the mother of Henry VII, and granted the royal charter still in use today. The college is well-known for its students' outstanding academic performance, consistently ranking in the top ten of recent Times Higher Education rankings.
