Introduction

The Saint Vitale Church in Ravenna was built in 527 and represents an early example of Byzantine art. It is also a masterpiece in terms of architecture and has received worldwide acclaim for its typical style. The interior of the church preserves a large number of Roman-Byzantine mosaics, among which are particularly famous the images of Byzantine Emperor Justinian and Empress Theodora. The preservation of these mosaics is excellent, allowing visitors to admire the details in their entirety.
