Introduction

The Aretusa fountain is a freshwater spring, which according to legend was created when the nymph Aretusa sought the help of Artemis to escape from a river god who was pursuing her. She was transformed into a fountain and thus escaped the unwanted attention of the river god. Today, the fountain is home to ducks, red mullets, and paper reeds, and is a picturesque and peaceful place. Visitors can also visit an aquarium located nearby by purchasing a ticket.
