Introduction

Verona Cathedral, commonly known as "Duomo", is the city's cathedral built in the 11th century and is a unique combination of Romanesque and Gothic styles. The facade is divided into three sections, including a gable wall and two arcades decorated with sculptures. The door is decorated with a shallow relief of the Madonna and Child, and below it is a relief symbolizing justice, charity, and hope, while the statues on the columns represent ten prophets. The rose window of the cathedral was decorated during the 14th century renovation, and the upper baroque elements were added in the 17th century. The cathedral houses a large collection of Renaissance paintings, the most famous of which is Tiziano Vecellio's "Assumption of the Virgin".
