Introduction

A small brick arch bridge in Venice is known as the "Prostitutes' Bridge" for historical reasons. The surrounding area of the bridge was one of the legal red-light districts established by the Venetian government in the 15th century, with many brothels. In order to control the trend of homosexuality in Venice at that time, the government encouraged prostitutes to stand on the bridge topless, attracting and changing some homosexuals to help them "cure" their homosexuality. It is because of this historical reason that this small bridge is called the "Prostitutes' Bridge".
